Perspectives on the Coast

I did a couple of coastal cottages in perspective for the class. Naturally they are quite strangely distorted looking. However, the whole drawing thing seems to be coming together better.

One irony is that the school I am going to seems to have lost a record of my completing my drawing class last summer. I guess it is because I transferred from undeclared status to a graphic design degree program and they changed my student number at that time. Whether I ever graduate or not, however, is moot.

It has turned quite rainy here. The back porch room has 3 or 4 leaks and I do not think that we are going to get a roof on it before Spring.

Work (on the medical surgical floor at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital) is going just fine. I finally feel comfortable in my nursing role and don't find that I aspire to do anything much more. That might be because of my art classes.

Update

Moved down to Oregon in October. I got a new job at the local hospital. Med Surg, as usual. Actually, I like it. I know it isn't regarded as very technical, but it is technical enough and there is always something happening. Most of the patients interact with you so that is nice. I am starting a new art class this week. Perspective. I like it. The first assignment is to make a one point perspective drawing of boxes. I did this, and I like it but it is also meant to be somewhat decorative. You can see it above, though I forgot to sign it before scanning it. I am anxious to see how it looks posted.

Must go to work this afternoon for an orientation shift. It is always nerve wracking because you do not know the routines . . . like I spent 15 minutes yesterday looking for napkins, which were not actually on the unit. I will find out how to request them from the support people tonight, because I don't want to waste any more time on this. At first there are many instances of this type of problem, but it gets better the more you jump into it.
